Classical Homeopathy as an Integrated Medicine
For too long, homeopathy and conventional medicine have been opposed to each other. However, you may be aware that there are NHS homeopathic hospitals or you may have visited av homeopath at your GP surgery?
I have been told that when General Practitioners had control of funding many opted to have a homeopath in the practice as they found homeopathy can help where conventional medicine does not, and that often, patients receiving homeopathy needed fewer consultations and prescriptions, thus saving the practice money.
I studied homeopathic medicine at the University of Central Lancashire and the first two years of my BSc (Hons) were similar to those taken by many other medical students.
In addition, my training under one of the world’s leading homeopaths, George Vithoulkas, has taught me the value of conventional medicine. When George Vithoulkas first began teaching in Athens he initially only taught medical practitioners, and he often treats patients in conjunction with conventional medicine, in settings ranging from general practice to intensive care. George Vithoulkas has developed an understanding of the levels of heath and how to work alongside conventional medicine and strongly believes in the integration of homeopathy into the health services. I fully support these views and would like to see a fully integrated health care system in the UK.
The International Academy of Classical Homeopathy
Conventional medicine has become increasingly sophisticated, and is now used so routinely that even relatively young people can find themselves on daily medication. Your General Practitioner probably entered into medicine with the same desire to help others as I did when I chose to become a Classical Homeopath. My ideal is to work alongside your GP/psychotherapist/counsellor and recommend that you only increase or decrease your use of pharmaceutical medication under the guidance of the prescriber. I also strongly recommend that you maintain your relationship with your GP and avail yourself of the latest diagnostic tests.
There are many medical events which are best treated by conventional medicine, so if you break a bone, or experience a life threatening incident, please go directly to your GP or to the A&E department at your local hospital. Classical Homeopathy is an alternative method of treatment, but it is not intended to replace conventional medicine. Many people find homeopathic treatment comforting and supportive, and respond well to homeopathic remedies, in an ideal world the Classical Homeopath can work alongside conventional medicine in a truly integrated manner.
